About Stacey Jewett
Know who pays. Get paid.
I have spent more than 30 years making sure Michigan healthcare providers get paid on auto accident and work injury claims.
I started in auto reimbursement long before Michigan's 2019 No-Fault reform, and I have worked through every change since. I know how carriers make decisions, where claims stall, and what it takes to move a stuck account to payment.
Today I lead Michigan Auto Reimbursement Services (MARS), which I run with attorney Marc Mendelson from our office in Southfield, Michigan.
What I do
Front-end benefits. I find out whether auto No-Fault or workers' compensation coverage applies, which carrier is responsible, the claim number and adjuster, the date of loss, and the level of benefits on the policy.
Collections. I follow auto accounts through to payment, working directly with carriers and adjusters until each account closes.
Why I do it
Over my career I have worked with hospitals, long-term acute care hospitals, and post-acute providers across Michigan, and I see the same problem again and again. A patient injured in a car accident arrives with coverage nobody identified. The provider bills health insurance, writes off the balance, or chases the wrong payer for months. That money is owed, and in most cases it can be recovered if someone gets the facts right early and stays on the claim.
The part I love most
Behind every auto claim is a family. When a husband, wife or parent, often the breadwinner, is lying in a hospital bed after a crash, their loved ones are scared about much more than medical bills. I get to tell them I will do everything possible to find the benefits they are owed: wage loss, replacement services, and the care they need now and in the future. We open the claim and help them complete every benefit application.
Patients and families rarely go looking for someone like me. But when the insurance worry is lifted off their shoulders, they can focus on healing, and that changes their whole experience of care.
How I work
I keep it simple: confirm the coverage, prove it, and follow the claim until it pays. Providers can use MARS for front-end benefits, collections, or both.
Let's talk
If your organization treats auto accident patients and is not sure what it is recovering, I would like to hear from you.
